Pioneer PL-530

CDFixer

Number 1 USC Trojan Fan
I have a pioneer PL-530 and everything works except that the tonearm does not return all the way to it's rest stop. I stops short about 1/4 to 1/2", I have the service manual but have not found an adjustment for this. Does anyone out there know how to do this or is there an adjustment in the manual that will fix it but its just not obvious.

Let me know

Hi

Is this a semi-auto - you put the stylus down but it picks it up at the end?

If so the return is adjusted usually by a small screw which should be visible thro a small hole in the deck plate near the arm. It may have a rubber cover. Try 1/4 turn and then check return position, that will show you the direction you need to adjust further.

I have seen decks where the adjustment is under the deck, only visible when the bottom cover is removed, but Pioneer are usually more user-friendly than that.

No, this is fully automatic, and the adjustment you mention is there but the manual indicates that it is for the "drop position" where the needle is set down on the record. That all works fine, the problem is I am having is the arm doesn't fully return to the rest position.

Hi again

Thanks for the pic. Does the lift/lower lift the arm high enough to pass over the arm rest in auto mode?

Failing that it may be an internal adjustment, from underneath look for a cam with a screw and locknut attached to the base of the arm.

Fwiw

Download the service manual. There is a small piece of foam on the inside of one of the cam arms that breaks down and resolved, replace it with a small piece of a sturdier synthetic foam
