The PL-530 fetches such high prices due to styling, being a high end fully automatic direct drive, and Pioneer silver era mid high end. Really nice upper middle to high end Japanese automatic turntables are pricey in general in nice condition. Nobody makes a comparable new option and some folks want automatics.

i paid $650 not to long ago, mine came with a shure v15lll cart with original low hour stylus and the original box and accessories, i would never of paid that much without that cartridge though. $800+ does seem a bit high

I sold my mint one that I veneered in maple about 7yrs ago for $425. I kick my butt for selling it. It was one of the nicest sounding tables I ever owned.

I would love to have that table! I'll admit that it is probably overpriced, but I'd gladly pay it for a specimen that nice!
 
that table is clean, I don't think that $800 is unreasonable.

I wouldn't sell mine for less than that... I did 2 tables with the veneer I purchased but that was $100 worth of veneer, the dust cover is about $100 and I would value a stock one somewhere around $300-400.

I bought 1 of these in excellent condition at a gun show a couple of years ago for $40. Wasn't really looking for any more audio equipment. Ran out of room. But this 1 caught my eye. I was looking at it and decided to take another lap around the show and told myself, if it was still there when I got back, I would make him an offer. Talked him down from $50. I gave it a quick test and put it in my closet. I was just looking at it a couple of days ago and checked Ebay to see if it was worth anything. I had no idea people were paying that much for this turntable. I think I need to integrate this into my system. I like automatics because I don't like having to run over to the turntable at the end of the track to lift the arm.

I haven't been on this site for a long time. Rebuilt a few 70's vintage Yamaha amps and receivers with a lot of good info that I got from this site, ran out of room, and moved on to other hobbies. I came on this site tonight to see if I could find any feedback on this turntable and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks. Sometimes you get lucky.
 
I got mine from an original owner for 250.00. I love this table. I need to buff out some scratches on the cover but this table is in my main setup paired with the SX-1050 and HPM 100's. The only thing I would want more than my 530 is the 570. But I couldn't be more happy with the 530.
