Pioneer PL-560 Tone Arm Return Position Adjustment

I just got this beautiful Pioneer PL-560, and nearly everything works and sounds great, but when the tone arm returns from the automatic function, it doesn’t stop exactly in the center of the tone arm rest. It stops about a quarter inch short. Can that be adjusted? Is it difficult?
Also, the platter seems to take a long time to fully stop rotating. The motor disengages shortly after pushing the cut button, and the platter is spinning freely. Is this normal?

I think this is one of the Pioneer tables that has a foam pad on the return mechanism that deteriorates over time. You can use a small piece of sticky window/door foam seal to replace it. Very common issue on several of the Pioneer TTs.

Agreed. Other than the tone arm return issue, this table works and sounds great.

Thanks, I’ll have to check on that. I found nothing in the service manual to make an adjustment.

Platter spinning is a good thing...the longer it spins, the less resistance in the motor bearings. The less resistance, the lower the noise.
