I'm currently working on restoring a pioneer pl570 but I've ran into some trouble and I need help. The first issue is that I damaged the tonearm wires and need help in rewiring the tonearm.
I ordered cardas tonearm wire and am planning on using this. One potential issue I have is that I believe the tonearm has a separate ground to just the tonearm. I believe it's grounded to the clip in the back of the tonearm as seen in these photos. Any advice or guides or walkthrough on how to rewire this tonearm or a similar Japanese s style tonearm would be greatly helpful.
The second issue I have is that something seems off with the way the tonearm balances. It sounded fantastic before I messed up the tonearm wires but the tonearm weight had to be almost all the way to the front of the arm in order to balance with the necessary weight. Any ideas on what could be the issue?
The third smaller issue is that the tonearm appears to be missing a screw on the bottom side of the arm where it attaches the back part of the tonearm (where the weight resides) to the rest of the arm. This causes the back part of the tonearm to sag unfortunately. I stupidly applied some super glue to the joint before I realized that there was a screw missing.
Aso are there any upgrades or service I can I do to the tonearm while I have it taken out for a rewire? Any guides on lubrication or oiling that could help me?
I've invested a lot of time and money into fixing this tonearm and really want to try and get it working properly.
