Pioneer PL-570x - Start/Motor/Voltage Issue?

Had to pick up this 570x. Knowing it had this issue.

You have to hold the start button for the platter to spin. And when it does, there’s a hum.

It’s not connected to anything. Just plugged in.

This was purchased on a US Air Force base in Japan. It has a voltage switch.

It’s worthy of bringing to a tech, but I’d love to understand why.

1- the combination of the hum and having to hold the start button makes me think it may be a voltage issue.

2- if that’s not it, I read the 570 has a motor for the start/auto functions that sometimes dies. Can this be replaced? Are they available?

Anything else it might be? Anything I can check?

I’ve been having terrible luck with my vintage gear lately and could use any easy fix. lol. IMG_3351.jpegIMG_3346.jpeg
