I was working on this turntable for a speed fluctuation issue, which I've resolved. During final testing I discovered that when in REPEAT mode the stylus drops too far outward of the lead-in groove. It drops just close enough to the edge of the record that it slips off the edge. It works great when using Auto-Start/Stop mode though. I don't see any adjustment in the service manual to correct this. I'm thinking an issue with the optical sensor/s not talking to the controller chip properly. Could it just be that the tonearm assembly needs to be cleaned and re-lubricated? Has anyone had this issue with the PL-630? I can post a video if needed.
I'm not doing a full restoration on the turntable as the owner does not want that. They just asked me to fix the speed issue. I want to fix this as well while in there.
Thanks
