Pioneer PL-7 quartz lock not staying on right speed

Hello, so I recently picked up a Pioneer PL-7 from goodwill and I haven't had any issues with it really other then when i play a record, the light will start with quartz light on and stay on for a few seconds then it will turn off and I believe speed the record up a noticeable amount from what I've heard. It will last anywhere from maybe around 20 seconds or more with light off before it automatically goes back to normal running speed and light turns on again. I'm very new to turntables and very uneducated in this are and what to do. I will take any and all the help I can get, thanks.

Try the easy fixes first:
1. deoxit the crystal lock button if there's any.
2. deoxit the 33/45 rpm selector.

Can it play without quartz lock on DC servo accurately? @beej is the resident Pioneer tt expert here, I am sure he will be able to help you out.

Thanks for the comment, I'll give it a look and if I can't fix it I'll let him know.

After the deoxit, maybe you can swap out the 1000/50V, 33/6.3V (directly connected to the LED), and the 47/35V in the power supply board, if you are feeling impatient and want to do a bit of preventive maintenance,

Appears to me to be oxidation in the speed switch. Quite common in this series of turntable and in this model. Drop me a private message with your email address and I'll send you my guide on how disassemble and reassemble the unit as well as maintenance tips including how to address the speed issue.
