Hello! This is my first post after lurking the forums for quite some time looking for some vintage gear. I'm exited to finally have joined.
I just recently acquired my grandparents SX-550, and got a PL-A35 this weekend from CL.
It has an old Grado Black (I think, even though the cartridge itself is brown) that I am thinking of replacing. I think the Grado sounds fine - but I have never experimented with different carts and I would like to.
So, I did some research and I was initially looking at the Ortofon Red, but then I found the Shure M97 and read it may perform better than the Red which is the same price. Would both of these work on my turntable? And how difficult are they to setup and get the tracking/anti skate working etc? I'm also open to any recommendations!!
Also is my tonearm considered low mass?
Thanks in advance!
