Pioneer PL-A35 Tonearm Lock

Doesn't have one. I recently picked up one of these at auction.
The stylus was bent sideways, probably because the tonearm
wasn't secured while being moved and flopped around a bit.
From what I can find, this turntable does not or never had
a lock for the tonearm. I don't really want to twist tie or
tape it whenever I move it. Anyone know of an aftermarket
add-on tonearm lock? Thinking I could fab something, but not
really motivated at the present time

I don't see your problem? How often do you plan on moving this and what do you mean by moving? If you need to ship it, tie it down and remove the weight and headshell.

If you're concerned about future stylus damage, remove the headshell.

Other Pioneer rests might work, PL-50?

You're correct in that the original tone arm rest did not have a clasp (pretty strange design, I'll admit). But you could easily remove it and replace it with one from another make/model turntable. You'll find it's easily removed from the underside using a (I think) 5.5mm socket. For the same reason you put your car in park instead of neutral - point being their should be something to secure it when not in use, the turntable could get bumped or some other weird thing that could knock the arm off the rest. I think would bring some peace of mind, especially if you have an expensive stylus. I can certainly replace it providing the replacement has the same shaft length and mounting
