Pioneer PL-A35D just stopped mid play.

This morning while playing a recent LP purchase, my PL-A35D just stopped in mid play. I haven't dug into it yet, but did check the belt (new last year) and it was still there. When I select play, the tone arm picks up and sits down on the LP, but the platter doesn't even attempt to move. When I select stop, the tone arm again picks up and returns to the rest. (platter still not moving) I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what to look for? It has been playing flawlessly ever since I bought it last year and I completely went through it. Old grease, motor etc. I'm in the middle of working on another turntable so it will be a few days before I can open it up to see what's going on? Thanks! : )
