The old grease might be slowing down the arm movement, as well as the tiny drive belt. Find a service manual for dis-assembly, if it appears difficult to take apart. I had the same problem with my Technics SL-J2 linear tracker, that I brought out of retirement in Jan. of this year - it skipped fairly badly, even after a lube job, which cured it in 2002, when I burned some LP's to CD. Pioneer MIGHT have a replacement belt. If not, you'll have to approximate the size of the belt, and look at cassette deck replacement belts. Also, check turntable belt suppliers.
