Pioneer QX-8000a power switch replacement (repair help)

Greetings!

I am looking at replacing a broken power switch on this Pioneer QX-8000a I found at the "side of the road" store. (Button is missing and switch is perpetually in "on" position)

I bought this replacement switch: https://www.ebay.com/itm/113248396279 which comes with one snubber capacitor - It is a Kemet .01 uf Y5V X1Y1 safety capacitor, rated at X1 400VAC/Y1 250VAC

The original switch has two capacitors attached:



Do I need to buy another capacitor so there can be one for each side? Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can figure out how the wires will be placed on the new switch?

The reason why you see two snubber capacitors attached to the power switch is most likely because the unit is multi-voltage. In other words, it might accept 110/120/220/240Vac 50/60Hz depending on the geographical region. Can you check the back of the unit and see if there's a voltage selector and/or a more precise model number / name?

one snubber across one set of contacts, two sets of independent contacts - TWO snubbers...

your old switch had 2 connections per side, the third connection was never installed on the switch (those empty holes).
your new switch has the three connections per side. Normally closed (you will not use) / common / normally open (closed when button locked on/down)

If you are careful, you can reuse the snubber caps and insulators.

Found out the hard way those switches break frequently. I just ripped out the springs. You can push them on pull them out that way. Easy peasy, lemon...
I know as soon as I would try to replace them another one would break. Yes, the next to go was the tape monitor switch. SX-3500. BOSE.. DOUBLE THUMBS DOWN!! I bought the 401's, brought them home, first one blew I blamed it on my son. Then the second one did. I know wrong forum. SORRY, HAD TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST.

Hi! I wanted to thank you for your reply, markthefixer - I ordered a new snubber so I have two now. However, I had to put everything on hold until I finish moving 2500 miles across the country. I will update as soon I get settled and actually complete the wiring!
