Pioneer rack ja-r2 sold for $810. Is this a fluke?

[slowpat]

Came across this sold listing. I know the JA-R2 is more desirable at 44" height compared to JA-R1, but $810? Plus over $100 for shipping...

Absolutely NOT. This is an indication that those that a few years ago bought the spec gear or whatever are now willing to fund the purchase of the coveted extras for their collection. The Tax on the desirable extras from the past are going to be going up and up for a while still, especially if two see it and want it or the seller has a shill bidder.

I would have paid like... $50. So I guess it's a good thing I'm not looking for a SPEC rack.

Kinda what most would think it is worth but it says Pioneer and is shown with the spec gear loaded into it in the brochures so BAM the price skyrockets.

I must admit that many of these racks are in pretty poor condition as they've been kicking around in a shed or similar long after all the components got sold off years ago.

Here in Australia you could comfortably say that there would be less than 100 of these that ever made it here as we didn't spend big money on indoor entertainment items like this and the folks that did have long moved on to something else or have passed on some years back now. Here in Australia that price would've been paid instantly if it was listed over here with that figure as a BIN price.
