I'm going to assume that this is a common problem with Pioneer's RX line of dual tape deck/receiver combos, because I've seen this problem mentioned with others from the line. However, that's all I'm seeing: Problems mentioned, but no solutions.
I've checked inside. The belts are slightly worn, but they should last a bit longer. Both tape players rewind and fast forward without any issues. However, when I press play, the wheels turn but the gears connected to the reels that turn the tape remain stationary. The gears don't look stripped and aren't missing any teeth. I've replaced belts and gears in old VCR's, so I'm hoping this isn't too different, but I don't want to take the tape players apart without proper guidance. Any help would be appreciated.
