Pioneer SA-7800 recap with pics

What would your first step? Re-capping? I saw something about leaky caps in certain areas reducing the gain of the phono preamp. Don't want to mess up anything that's already working fine.

Is it only on the phono section you have the "thin reedy sound"? You could try fault finding the phono board, I'd make sure it's getting the voltage it's supposed to first. Otherwise, a re-cap and replacing the six transistors will cost $10 or less in parts (of just the phono board, the whole amp will cost more).

Hmmm... I'll have to see if I still have those pics. Comcast pulled the plug on personal web page storage, so they all disappeared. I'd point you to my other thread on a different SA-7800, but those pics are gone as well.
