I'm currently restoring a Pioneer PL-55DX auto return turntable from the 70's and need to replace the damping grease in the rotator assembly. Unfortunately, I haven't found the spec for replacement grease anywhere in the Pioneer service manual or online.
Please note that the damping mechanism on the PL-55DX is NOT the piston type, but mechanical in nature (see attached pics). The damping grease is contained inside a rotating plate assembly and may or may not be the same viscosity as the piston type damping grease (that's my uncertainty).
Has anyone worked on this type of mechanism and know what grease should be used?
