Hi everyone! I recently acquired a Pioneer SM-Q140 and have an issue with the volume on FM. When I received it all the switches and pots were cleaned and lubricated, the tube pins and sockets were also done. I then brought the power up very slowly with an isolation transformer to see if the capacitors might temporarily reform.
The receiver powered up without issue and was pulling about 1.10 amps. Both AM and shortwave bands work just fine. The FM band volume is about ¼ of the AM channels.
I am going to recap it in the near future but would like your thoughts on the low volume.
Can leaky caps be the culprit or should I be looking elsewhere and possibly getting that repaired prior to the recap?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me.
