Pioneer Spec 2 Recap Project

My Spec 2 started developing some buzzing so I removed it from the rack and would like to perform a recap on it. Does anyone have a BOM for either mouser or digikey for cap replacements? I did a search but nothing came up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should probably try and find the source of the buzzing first. A recap is restoration job and might not cure the buzzing... you might have a bad relay or transformer for starters...

Please know that these underwent many design tweaks during their production life. Any BOM should be used as a foundation, not a purchasing list. You should take the BOM and verify each part (marking each as you account for it), tweak the BOM to match "your" unit, and then generate a purchasing list. Part values may have changed, or parts may have been deleted or added. You don't want to get well into a recap, and discover that you need "one" part. Then you will have to wait until that one comes in, and pay a shipping premium for it, only to discover that you missed another one, and so on.

Also, you should not recap until the unit is fully functional. Recapping is not a valid repair activity. Rather, it is work aimed at longevity. QSilver's suggestion is a good one.

Enjoy,
