Pioneer Stereo Cabinet?

Carbineone

New Member
Bought this older Pioneer branded cabinet at a junk store today for 17.00. Any idea about what the Vintage years are app.? I a guessing early to mid 1980s maybe?. It is in nice shape. Has a external headphone jack on the bottom left side. Has provisions for Albums in the racks down low. Turn Table spot on top with a glass hinged door.

EDIT:
Never noticed this before. The cabinet has a Model Tag on the back..CB-510..Thanks

I got a ton of those in the store for display - all with different names. typically built by sauder woodworking and not that resilient against abuse.

if you can, try and find one by Bush from the late 70's, early 80s. you can ride those down a staircase and reasonably expect it to survive.

It will suffice for my purposes I think. Hopefully it will not be going down the stairs.LOL

Nice to have a solid wood one. But I do like the Pioneer Branding, even if it is a cheaper product. Matches my Kenwood Receiver nicely I think.. And it was a price even I can afford. It was made in Japan, is that where the Sauder Company is from? Thanks.

I had a 70s Pioneer that came with my 6500II system. Very nice formica unit.

It says on back MADE IN JAPAN. I do not see Malaysia or Singapore on it. I must be slow and am missing something here,LOL

I think it's nice, it serves a great/needed purpose and its Pioneer branded. Plus, it goes great with the speakers. I have a similar one in the basement and its perfect for the situation.

It’s a nice looking cabinet and seems to fit your gear well.
I’d make sure to leave the glass door open when the receiver is on. Even then, keep an eye on the temp as it doesn’t have too much room on top. If your receiver runs warm it might not be happy for long.

Thanks, yes I checked for any heat issues and was going to drop the shelf down if any existed, Nothing seems to be a issue however. It does have openings in the rear panel also for ventilation. And since I installed LEDS, rather than the old Incandescent bulbs. Heat has really subsided also.

I do need to add another shelf below for a CD Player unit yet. I will still play Albums though along with the CDs. But I am stuck with CDs and Radio right now as my Turntable started to sound like crap, was not a great model to begin with.. So need to find another one. What would be a suggestion for a turntable Model that would not break me and still sound at least decent?

Cabinet does fulfill my needs perfectly.

I have an little SA-520 that has rca headphone outputs on the back, does the cabinets jack have rca on the other end ????

No the only extra output is the headphone Jack..

Nice little setup Cabinet you made. I am a long time amateur wood worker, thought of building a Custom Cabinet and still may when I have more time. For now though I like this one. Thanks

I'd have to think that if it's made in Japan that it's not junk and it looks nice. What do you think if your Pioneer speakers? I have a pair but haven't ever used them.

Actually I bought those CS-903s at a Garage sale for 5.00 about two weeks back. I think some people kinda make fun of these. But for Rock that I listen to. They sound very, very good to me anyway. Very powerful and clear. But I am no music expert connoisseur for sure,LOL

I have an old pair of Kenwoods in the basement that I may try too, Cannot remember the specs. But they are the old Cathedral type wood lattice covers.
