Pioneer SX-1010, 939, 838, et.al., Relay Replacement

GOOD IDEA, but IMHO, a 1N4148 is a bit wimpy for that application (Ifsm: 2A), I would use a 1N4001, 1N4004, they will take the surge current much better (Ifsm: 45A) . It will also, marginally, slow the relay release time.
So should I add a 1N4001 or 1N4004 to the replacement relay on the SX-850?

I watched the Youtube video referred to in post #76. He is recommending the MY2-DC24 over what appears to be the usual replacement LY2F-DC24 says it is heavier duty. At Mouser the LY2F-DC24 is $2.36 more expensive than the MY2-DC24. Am I missing something?

The maximum blocking voltage of the 1N4001 is 50vdc, the 1N4004 is 400vdc. The maximum voltage across the relay (and the diode) is going to be about 27vdc, so either would work. I keep 1N4004 in stock just because of the higher voltage. But, other than the higher blocking/peak reverse voltage, the specs for the 1N400X diodes are the same. Use what you have on hand.

Thanks. I had not seen this mentioned before in other restorations so I thought I should ask the experts. I definitely have the the 1N4004 so I'll use it. As always thanks for your good advice!
