Just got it sounding good. cleaning pots and switches with Deoxit. Thought I would blow the dust out after using a bit of 4 ot steal wool to get some old grunge off. Playing great, Soon as I hit it with some air it was lights out. Checked all fuses, good. Source to power cord good. What could have happened?

The unit is totally dead? Steel wool sheds make sure there is no Steel wool dust in there. Check wire wiring you have broken a power wire

Totally. The 6 amp fuse at the power inlet is blown. I tried a quick jump with power and it arced. Probably made it worse. Cannot check anything with no power.

I have the tester. I'm sure you are right. I was scrubbing off a rectangular cover to the right rear from the dial. Even caught the steel wool on fire! Fire did not cause it to quit, the air did. I will study more on the schematic. Just a dumb move on my part. I was glad I got it to play right and wanted to make it cleaner b4 I put the lid on.

No power, plug OUT, check ohms from EACH output transistor case (collector) to chassis ground.

Popping main fuse likely is during powering up the big caps, knock on wood problem is NOT in amp circuitry.

Yea.. Don't do that! I found 2 of the 4 right side main transistors blown. On order along with parts to do the power supply. 6 . amp fuses as well. Could not find anything on the 6A fuse at the power inlet. Is it a standard glass fuse or a slow blow?

Thanks for that. I think it took out 2 of the power transistors and the 6a fuse. Parts hold as of today. 6+ hours on it so far.

Check the emitter resistors too.
Fast blow.

Sometimes compressed air cans spit condensation fluid! Combined with steel wool hairs...yikes glad you have a handle on it!
Lesson learned!!!

Replaced 2 output transistors. New caps and transistors on the power supply (9 caps were bad). Adjusted to .050 left and right and zeroed out the speaks. I'm going to really enjoy this 1010 receiver! Think it may sound better than my Marantz 2270....

i believe that the service manual is incorrect and the idle current should be 25mv per channel.

someone please correct me if i am thinking of a different unit.
