Tapping on the relay cover will usually bring the problem to the surface. It is best to use a pair of headphones, and have the volume low. Tap the top of the relay clear cover (the one mounted on the circuit board left front, not the one mounted to the chassis in the middle), and it the volume cuts in and out on the taps, the relay is dirty. I usually use a pencil or something non metalic, although as long as you are careful, you can use the back of a screwdriver as well.
