Pioneer SX-1250 Need Help

Hey everyone! This is my first post, although I have been lurking for a few years. I have a Pioneer SX-1250 that I picked up about 10 years ago and have fallen in love with this thing. Sadly this week it started having some issues. After about 30 minutes of listening is starts to pop in both channels. If I let it go for a minute it will go into protection. If I turn it off and let it cool down it will go work for another 20-30 minutes before popping again.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a service shop in the Phoenix, AZ area and any idea what I am looking at cost wise to get it back in tip top shape.

Look at the idle current. If a channel is running hot it may send the unit into thermal protection.

It also could be cold/cracked solder joints on the stabilizer and/or amp boards. If you feel confident enough, I would take the stabilizer board out and take a look at the trace side. Solder joints that are failing may get worse once the unit heats up thereby creating the pops. Not in AZ so no recommendations for service centers. Sorry.

Thanks for the help guys. MY soldering skills are pretty good but reading schematics is like hieroglyphics to me. If it was a smaller/more beat up receiver I would give it a go but the last thing I want to do is screw this one up.

One great advantage to the 1250 is the somewhat modular design. The more problematic units can be removed for relatively easy access. As for the diagrams, we can probably walk you through those so it makes sense.
