Pioneer SX-1250 running 6ohm speakers?

I was considering buying a pair of Cerwin Vega xls-12 speakers that are rated at 6 ohms to hook up to my SX-1250. Would 6ohm speakers be safe to run....or would it cause my receiver damage?

With the SX-1250 I'd be more concerned about damaging the speakers than the amplifier outputs. Those CVs are supposedly rated at 300W PEAK which might translate to 100-150W continuous - Mayne. It's actually doubtful that they are even close to 150W but the CV literature doesn't specify. The receiver can slam out 165W continuous all day long like an arc welder.

Fortunately, the speakers are fused.

Thanks for your input. Do you think think the xls-15 would be a better match for the sx-1250?

Indeed, the 4 ohm rating is 250W so at 6 ohm you are looking at somewhere between 165 and 250W, say 200W, continuous.
