Pioneer SX-1250

I picked up a Pioneer SX-1250 through a Craiglist ad today. The item is in fantastic shape, but only outputs audio through the left channel. The right channel can be heard very faintly, but it is barely noticeable. I've seen several different topics regarding this type of issue. Deoxit seems to be the primary solution for this type of issue. Is the fact that the right channel is outputting a very small amount of volume relevant? I'm uncertain how to procede. Any help is appreciated.

People that are knowledgeable should be along shortly. Meanwhile...
1) pull the jumpers connecting pre-out/amp-in, clean and put them back in, see if that helps
2) low output on tuner only, tape/aux/phono as well?
3) DeOxit all switches and pots and try again
4) connect pre-out to another amp, good output or same?
5) connect another pre-amp to the amp-in of the 1250, good output or same?

That's about all I can do if I had the same issue... Then start calling other Ak'ers.. :D
 
I will try your recommendations, at least those I'm actually able to do. The low output seems to affect all inputs, as I tried different speaker channels, aux and phono inputs, and the headphone jack. You can very faintly hear the right channel, which has me concerned. I hope it's something that isn't too much of a hassle to correct.
 
Well, I fiddled around with the switches on the face of the receiver and it is now outputting sound from both speakers! This thing definitely needs to be cleaned though.
 
If your low volume channel occurs again and a cleaning doesn't solve the problem, it could be the relay contacts. My 1250 had the same issue, and cleaning switches with Deoxit didn't help. Punker X and markthefixer and others suggested cleaning the relay contacts, which solved the problem completely. Here's that thread: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=258699

Just a note: Sometimes the switches etc need to be cleaned a couple times depending on how crudded up they are.

Good luck with the 1250 it's a great receiver.

It is often times the filter switches that need to be cycled multiple times to get the corrosion worn off. Getting to those switches from the inside is real work. You can try some Deoxit going in from the front with the possibility of success. Congrats on a great piece of equipment.
