Pioneer SX-1500td Center Channel question

Hello friends, first time posting here. Just getting into vintage audio within the last year or so and really enjoying it. I’ve got a Rega RP1(not vintage), a pioneer sx-1500td and a couple of Bose 301 Series II speakers. I’m supposed to be picking up a couple of late 70’s JBL L19’s this weekend that I think will replace the Bose speakers in my main setup.

Anyways, I just bought the pioneer sx-1500td and am wondering what the purpose of the center channel is. What is its intended use? I want to try running an 8 or 10” subwoofer out of the center channel but I’m not sure if I that is a good idea or not. Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to share their wisdom!

The center channel outputs a summed mono signal for driving another amp. Pre outs sends signals to the amp (or another amp if you hook it up) Main in accepts a signal from a pre amp..

Well, I’m pretty new to this stuff. While most people would probably consider this question answered by your response, I am still unsure. I am assuming that I can plug a powered subwoofer into this center channel and it won’t hurt anything but I don’t really know.

Anyone have any recommendations for a sub to run off the center channel on the sx-1500td? I'd be willing to spend up to a couple hundred dollars on one
