Pioneer SX 3700 - burn smell + right channel distortion + no FM

Hi all,

Picked up a lovely looking Pioneer SX 3700 today and plugged it into my lp120 turntable and Boston Cr9 speakers.

I found three problems with it so far:

1) It's not so much burning, as much as warm plastic smell? It goes away after a few minutes - it's just something that appears to happen when turned on.

2) Can't seem to get the FM working, AM works fine and is actually pretty good! Any thoughts?

3) The right channel has a significantly lower output and sounds distorted. I've tried A+B and switching speakers to ensure that wasn't the issue, also done a number of others things recommended on this forum, for example, playing with the FM muting or other controls. My new step is to open her up and clean inside see if that works.

Both channels worked when I tested it at the store, which is odd!

Wondered if anyone has experienced these issues and could help troubleshoot? Mainly 1+2 (and any other advice for 3)

I bought it today for $100 - i can take it back to the store for a refund if its not worth the hassle, but thought I would try things out first

Thanks

Joe
