Pioneer SX-3800 Power Switch Replacement

I recently picked up a nice SX-3800 receiver from a fellow AK member that was ailing with bad power switch. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to replace one of these before? I have the replacement switch from a donor unit already. The receiver operates really well other than the switch, so I have not planned to do anything else to it at this time. If there is something I should check while the "hood" is up, please let me know. Thanks in advance for the help/advice.

I am about to my first one also in a 3700. Just looking it over before I dig in looks like it could be a hassle. I am looking at the exploded view from the manual and looks like the sheetmetal front plate needs to be unscrewed and pulled forward, or else you are going to have to drop the amplifier board, which I don't want to do. Good luck.

Yes, it looks pretty involved for sure. I decided to not tackle it this weekend because of Mother's Day and all. Maybe next weekend.

I will try to disassemble tonight or tomorrow and report back ASAP. Might not be too rough. I'll attempt to make a detailed procedure. I have to change a bulb at the same time, so I have a little more to accomplish. Fingers crossed.

It's really easy. I had the switch out in under ten minutes. The 3600 should be very close to mine. Pull the faceplate. If you are new to this, knobs first. Then take the nuts off the pots (I have two). Take out two small screws on top of faceplate. Remove faceplate and set it aside. Remove shank nuts from pots again. Take out all black screws from metal bracket. I had three on each end, one bottom middle, two in the center and four holding the push button switch assemblies. There are also little flat heads under each toggle switch. Remove these as well. Keep track of the screw sizes, they are different. Big heads hold the bracket on. Small ones hold switches. I had to cut some plastic cable ties holding the wire harness to the chassis to gain some slack for the power switch. The bracket should slide forward and out. I had enough festooned wire for the bulbs to leave attached to the bracket. Just be careful and don't force anything and you should be fine. The power switch is loose once you remove its nut. Should be good to go. Have fun and don't be skeert. Don't forget to put new cable ties in to hold the gang of wires against the chassis.
