Pioneer SX-450 Power Switch problem like Kenwoods??

I have a nice Pioneer SX-450 receiver that has the power switch and the speaker selector together. When first turned on it flickers for 30 seconds or more and then finally lights up and works alright.

The only other experience I ever had with this problem was with a Kenwood KR-4070. The problem was common with them. As I recall it just stated working properly one day and I never figured out what happened to fix the problem. After the Pioneer starts working correctly if you unplug it and plug it back in again it still flickers but not nearly as long. Power switch? Transformer?

Anyone else have a similar experience with the older Pioneers? Any suggestions? Thanks! Franksta

In my research for my SX-550 that had the same problem, I found its more than likely the power switch needing to be taken apart and burnished. Do a search for SX-550 and there are some links to the repair. Since I found out what to do mine has straightened up and is currently working fine :D

Do a search on Ak, you will find there are threads for the fix. Had the same problem with my SX-450, the sound and lights would flicker . The cure involves removing and disasembling the switch and cleaning it. One thread I found had step by step instructions with photos.
