Just spent too much time figuring out what the problem was and figured I'd post this to help anyone in the future.
Only one dial lamp was working on this unit so I replaced the dial and meter lamps with soft white LED's. Fired it up to check them and found the meter lamp wasn't illuminating. Went through the functions and none of those lamps worked. Noticed the dial pointer had a tiny bit of illumination. Worked the function switch back & forth to find a couple functions worked very briefly.
Cleaned the function switch again then checked lamps. They all worked for around 5 seconds then stopped working. Looked the wiring and schematic over to find the front wafer on the function switch is where the problem lies. The wafer is the one closest to the front, front side of the wafer.
Be very careful when attempting this as it's way too easy to bend that contact too far or possibly break it off.
Current is supplied to the wafer's inner disc via the solid blue wire. The inner disc is what connects all of the separate functions along with the pointer and meter lamps. When I pressed the end of the contact towards the inner disc the lamps worked. Had to very carefully push something (dental probe) into the opening where the contact connects to the wafer so the other end that meets the inner disc raises off the disc enough where I could press that end down making a better bend in the contact.
Once the probe was removed the contact sprung back down onto the inner disc making good contact now.
To get enough room to work on this pull the front off, take the nut off that holds the switch in place then push the switch back until the outer brass threaded part rests on the backside of the opening holding the switch away from the front. I had the push button switch screws removed, the tone board hanging loose, along with the plastic wiring organizers pressed out of their holes. Don't know if all of this needs to be done in order to get the switch to push in or not.
