Pioneer SX-525 usable as a preamp?

Hello,
I just agreed to buy an SX-525, I will be picking it up in a week or two, but I was wondering if this model can be used as a preamp as well. I have a Marantz 1070 that can do both, and I was hoping this Pioneer could too. Also any opinions on the Phono abilities and the headphone amp in this receiver? (SX-525)

Units that can be used as a preamp have a set of pre-out and amp-in jacks.

The 525 does not have these jacks. Sorry...

The design needs the predictable input characteristics of the amplifier input for the tone controls to function properly.

It's just too bare bones of a low end model for that
 
Yeah, I was afraid of that. No worries, i'm sure I can find another use for it.
