Pioneer SX-5590 Value

[scribby31]

Hi,

Just curious if the asking price for the Pioneer SX-5590 in the link below is reasonable or not. This is NOT my ad by the way. Lovely looking unit, but is it worth $1000?

Not worth the price based on the description. Should be a perfect unit with box, packing, manuals and extras.

Has a premium over the 1250 by up to a couple c-notes, maybe, but it depends on who is buying.

It does say immaculate, and they are pretty rare...
$1,000.00...

I wouldn't pay that much for it.

Looks very nice though....

Possibly, but if I was interested wouldn't pay that much unless it was given an OK by a certified tech. Value is up to the buyer. They're not as common as the SX-1250 but, if you're asking top dollar, I'd recommend it getting it checked out by a tech.

FWIW its also listed on canuckaudiomart and the seller appears to be liquidating a bunch of vintage stiff including a full mid-80's Nak system and a newer Rokasn combo.

Roksan seems like a good price, the Nak system perhaps a tad high, but he's seems willing to bargain. And he has good feedback.

Those do look outstanding. But the SX-1250 is lovely by it's own right and can be had for much less. Just having one has always felt special to me.

I recall a Toronto AKer buying a mint SX-5580 (black face sx-1050, model down from this one) for around $700 and seemed very happy with it. These are extremely rare since they were only sold to military personnel stationed overseas. A few hundred more for the flagship seems reasonable, assuming it is in mint condition.

Besides the price has come down...
