pioneer sx 626 vs 980

hey guys

i've been lurking around for a little bit but this is my first post. i recently purchased a pioneer sx 626 off ebay for $20. it has been serving me very well so far. today i came across a sx 980 for $99 and i think i can talk the guy down to possibly $85 or $90.

anyone think its worth it? wattage is not really an issue. the 626 is plenty loud enough for my basement, i was just wondering if the sound quality was any better on the 980.

In my not so humble opinion, I always felt the x50 and x80 series of Pioneer receivers had the best combination of looks and sound quality. Your 626 is a fine little piece, especially for your basement usage. The 980 is a much more impressive-looking and powerful (80 wpc) unit that may deserve more than basement service. In my not so humble opinion:):)

Well, we're moving on up!!!

That's a good opportunity to "move up" to more wattage and more features for reasonably little money.

If the SX-980 is in good shape, I'd do it!

And if you can afford to, keep the SX-626 for a second system!
