pioneer sx-650 flicker

i'm experiencing a rather odd issue. it may be a current problem, i don't know. when i start-up my sx-650, its lights flicker for a minute or so and there's a sound variation - in tune with the flickering part - and then it all comes to normal, continuous light and sound. are there the pots and contacts dirty, or it's a more serious problem? i have the deoxit ready, i'll try that first, for sure. if anybody can shed some light on it, it would be much appreciated. thanks in advance!

I'll second that, and the sooner it gets attention the better the chance of saving the switch and avoiding damage to the unit.

deoxit would be a very temporary fix and may even cause a fire so not recommended at all .
best fix is a new switch . second best is pull apart and clean .

can you lead me toward a guide of some sort on how to clean it? it seems that only used parts are available for this type of contact, so i don't believe that another used one can make a huge difference. thanks for your help with this, much appreciated!

To do it right the switch needs to be removed resurfaced then reassembled to the selector shaft. No easy job to do.

One can short across the contacts on the switch so the unit is on all the time. Or jump across one side of the outlets on the back IIRC. (Fused/switch side?)

But doing this will leave the unit on so a power strip with switch will be needed.
