Pioneer sx 650 pot treble

Hi i need an info.I have a pioneer sx 650 with a broken treble pot shaft unfortunately i live in italy so shipping for a pot on ebay is 40 dollars.I want to know if is possible to change the pot with a "normal" 100k dual linear pot that i can find locally thanks.I could repair the shaft I saw few thread on this side what it would be better to replace it thanks

If you can find a 100K pot that physically fits and has the proper length fluted shaft, it should work well.
 
It's a 40 year old part. The Pioneer parts site lists it part but hasn't had them for years (decades?) and never will again.

They have a distributor network which also lists common parts, but I doubt you're going to find a warehouse full of new replacements that have will fall right into place and have "Pioneer" inked on the rear can.

You could hope to find a good take-out part from any of various placed, including some of these:

Or you could replace it with a modern device altered to fit the application (or use a modern device stem to replace your broken one). .
 
hi the problem is not finding the original pot the problem is that shipping to italy cost a gazzilion dollars so was trying to understand if I can change with a normal pot
 
thanks i have friends in both boston and ny and anyway I would pay shipping to them and than to me I would save 5 dollars and wait for who knows what.Nobody knows if a normal pot would work I see thanks anyway
 
A "normal" pot will work. However, there are about 50 varieties of "normal" so you need to select one that will fit the installation, have the correct length and diameter stem, and PCB mounting pins.
