Pioneer SX-650 Power Switch Cleaning

I thought I share my experience in cleaning the SX-650 power switch issue.

As usual, the symptom appeared when the light start to flicker and relay switching on and off. Searching the internet turn out to be power switch issue with x50 series.

I could not find exact photos or instructions on how to clean the switch for SX-650, so here you go.

1) Take the top cover off with power unplug
2) Take the bottom metal cover off too
3) Remove all the knobs from the faceplate
4) There are 2 nuts holding the faceplate, one on the power switch and the other on the selector switch
5) Another 2 screws on top holding the faceplate

Now you should have your faceplate off and here is the tricky part. Removing the black metal plate need a bit of patience and delicate hand. After removing all the screws that hold the black metal, you need to gently pull the tuner string in order to free the black metal plate.

Hope this help those who have a SX-650 and needed to clean the power switch.

I have a Pioneer SX-650 and my switch doesn't look like that. Similar, but the back plastic piece has no clips like the one you have. So I don't see how I can get into it without removing the 2 front screws on the switch and that might mean total disaster.

Does the switch look like this?
