Pioneer SX-650 receiver

I have a pioneer SX-650 receiver that I picked up at goodwill. Works great once it warms up. Initial turn on has static noise that coincides with display lights going dim. Any ideas? Just a good deoxit cleaning on switches?

The power supply may need attention soon. What happens when you turn it off and back on with a 10 second or so delay?

The SX-650 has the lousy power switch ganged with the ROTARY Speaker switch same as the SX-450. Open it up and PHYSICALLY CLEAN and burnish the contacts on the switch.

It was the power switch. Took bottom cover off and could hear crackling noise coming from power/speaker switch. Cleaned with deoxit, rotated switch several times. Thanks for responding guys. Building a vintage setup for my college bound daughter. Just need a turntable now.

DeOxit ain't gonna cut it. You physically have to get INSIDE the switch and scrape the contacts clean and burnish them flat. They have pitted from arcing and will continue to do so until they are cleaned and burnished. Give it a week and you'll be back at square 1.
