I recently purchased a sx 680 from eBay and finally recieved this unit that was supposed to be a perfectly working unit and to my surprise the right channel was real distorted so I cleaned the unit up real good with crc contact cleaner and made improvements to the volume and balance crackling. Still didn't improve the weak and distorted rt channel so figured out that rt stk 0039 needed replaced. Once replaced noticed the rt channel wasn't quite the same as the left channel bass response was weak . Then I tried replacing the main power supply caps the 8000 microfarad 42 volt capacitors. Used 10000 microfarad 50 volt replacements from mouser. Still weak bass response from rt Chanel . Tried swapping stk amps , speakers , wires , aux, tape, everything still weak on the bass output.Can anyone maybe steer me in the right direction on we're to look now or should I just start checking all of the components on the board and recap or should I just deal with it because it would cost to much to recap the unit . Still sounds better than the newer stereo equipment that I own. Also plan on building my first tube amp real soon and wanted to know if the 680 would be a good candidate to use with tube amp. Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

old caps loose capacitance as they dry out, and the first thing to be noticed is a loss of bass due to the reduced capacitance in certain areas.
In the 680's case, the tone controls are part of the power amplifier section, and there are plenty of them to dry out in that area.
Recap. It's inexpensive, I'm not sure if it's about $10 or $19 - there are two lists in my spreadsheet and I didn't take time to figure out why one is larger than the other.
of course that assumes you have the tools and the time to do it.

I'll defiantly make the time. That is pretty cheap considering it will bring back the sound quality to the unit. Is there a parts list that I could get or should I take the board out and make my own list of caps ? And are they still available at like mouser.do you think that I will have any problem finding the correct capacitance and voltages for all of the caps or will I need to go a little higher like with the main caps?
