Pioneer Sx-727 Receiver with Speakers

What I own:
  • Receiver: SX-727
  • In working order, theres a couple physical dings to it. When you switch from input options the sound does get a little static-y.
  • Speakers: Quadra Linear Horn System
  • They work surprisingly really well. Great Bass. Its obviously not with the clarity of modern speakers but it still bangs.
My Questions:
  • Option 1: Repair and Keep
    • Where would iI go to get some thing like this repaired so they are in tip-top shape?
  • Option 2: Sell
    • How much would I sell these for? Do I sell them separately? together? craigslist?

Thank for the help and any advice!

I am a fan of all of the SX X2X and X3X series. May be one of the better bangs for the buck out there for what you can snag them for.

Not sure what you are located, but most likely a shop near you that could properly service you unit and give you some guidance should it need anything major.

Nola gives sound advice as a first step. Take some time to clean the controls. May clear up some/all of the noise your getting. Dont know the speakers... but if Josh was that quick to make that comment I may start to do some research. So many speakers to choose from hard to get it right the first try.

I also do not use the power switches on my older gear. On these older SX's if your using more than one pair of speakers that is not possible as the speaker and power are the same switch. Get a decent surge protector. Tripp isobar you can pick up for $35 or less typically. Check the auction site, can find them often for quite a bit less. For the money many seem happy.

Hope this helps.
