Pioneer sx-727 volume noise and deoxit

Hi Folks,
This is my first post, hope you wonderful guys will help me.

I just bought a pioneer sx-727 locally. The unit works well except for the volume control is noisy and can lose sound in left or right channel sometimes. I decided to deoxit the volume part. I took off the front panel and the bottom cover. Unfortunately I still cannot get access to the volume part. Would you please tell me what other parts I need to take off to get access to it?

The front panel will need to come off. Remove the knobs - they fit into splined shafts. Put tape on 2 serving spoons and use a cloth on the front panel. Use the 2 spoons slipped under either side of a knob and lever them away from the front panel. The scoop in the spoon gives you this capability. The tape keeps it from pressing too hard on the front panel.

Next, remove the hex nuts. Take care with the pliers. Use tape on the ends where it will come in contact with the front panel. Use a cloth on the front panel in case of slipping off the nut and scarring the front panel. Ask me how I know all this!

There may be some screws securing the edges - its been 40 years since I worked on them on the service bench. Once the front panel is off, you should be able to get some Fader Lube into the openings of the control pots.

And watch out that the FM dial string doesn't get messed with. Then you'll have real need for the service manual.

Once the top, bottom and front panel are off, you are still left with a seemingly impenetrable steel cage around the switches. I gave up at this point and quietly reassembled it....shamed...

Once the faceplate is off and top and bottom (and this is going off of memory here) you have to remove any nuts that hold the pots to the chassis. There may also be some screws around the switches. The pots and switches are soldered to a pcb that makes up the tone circuit and preamp. Once all that is removed you should be able to pull back on that board from underneath and tilt it up to gain access to deox all the switches and controls.
