Pioneer SX-737 clipping with KEF Reference Series 101/2

You could always use your 737 as a preamp into a power amp that puts out more power (or current as other people have correctly stated). I'm kind of partial to NAD amps in case you haven't already noticed. Anything from a 2140 upwards would work, although a 2600 or 2700 would really get a grip on things.

Rumour has it, they used to demo the NAD 3020 driving Linn Isobariks at British HiFi shows. This speaker was (is) a notoriously difficult load, and yet this little 20w amp could drive them.

Unfortunately, no pre-out/main-in on the SX-737. Might go with the NAD, even though I don't like the style of it. Thanks for your advice! :)

Just find out that the LXI is rated 100 ohms and 150 ohms into 4 ohms (never foun the manual though). How come do you say it would be damaged even easier than the Pioneer? It looks like a good sleeper amp, isn't it?
 
LXI was built cheaply. STK afflicted often. 4 Ohm load that dips with frequency demands very high current, into that load. Not what I trust Inkel or Sanyo built anything for. A Crown, better Adcom, or better into is much more likely to do it.

In fact this amp was built by Sherwood, it's a rebadged AD260b. I though not all LXI components were made with the same build quality as they were rebadged version of various other brands. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Also, what is a STK?

Edit: Find out it's brand. Sorry.
 
It might seem that the easier solution would be to acquire speakers which are more efficient (high dB/W) and have the proper impedance.
