Pioneer SX-828 stereo light on and no separation ?? Stereo Lamp FIXED!

I am working on a Pioneer SX-828 receiver and the stereo lamp or light is on all the time. There is also no real nice stereo separation. I have cleaned all the switches with Deoxit. Even if I use the pot switch to change the settings from Mono to stereo or to phono or aux the stereo lamp in still on. It does go a little dimmer if I switch from stereo to Mono but not all the way off. I have recapped most all the boards and even checked the transistors on the driver board, main amp board, protection board and can not find the problem. I also checked the diode D1 and the FM transistor 2SC968 coming off of the lamp to the tuner board #5 connection and both are good. It does have a very light small crackling sound that is very faint coming from the left channel you can hear with the the volume all the way down.

Question?? Could the CA3054 IC on the tuner board be causing the problems or what else could it be?

Where are you at? I sold an 828 with the exact same trouble... It could be mine --the name Dave rings a bell---
I sold it over 10 years ago. let me know if that is you --I lived in St Clair Shores,Mich at the time of the sale.

It could be still floating around then. :D But it was not me. I just bought this yesterday and I live in Music City, USA. All the lamps were out and bad dimmer switch I had to rebuild. I cleaned her up and refurbished it and this is the only thing I am lacking to get it back into service.

FIXED! UPDATE. Found the stereo lamp problem.

Although I checked the lamp transistor 2SC968 and I even pulled it to check it. It checked good but I still replaced it with a new 512-KSC2383YTA transistor and now the lamp works like it should. The old 2SC968 was bad but just not showing it on my B&K checker. :D

Now I just need to work on the faint clicking noise in the left channel and the MPX separation.

Put a new CA3054 IC on the tuner board and now have good stereo separation. Stereo lamp works but still have a small very faint clicking noise from the left channel. Rebuilt the main amp board, protection board and recapped the tone board. I also recapped the driver board. I guess I need a professional diagnosis to find where the noise is coming from. You can't here it with the volume up but it is faint left channel when the volume is down. Leaky transistor?

I finally found the problem in the crackling noise in the speaker when the volume was turned down. It was a bad capacitor on the tone board. C46 25v/3.3uf.
