Pioneer Sx-838 LED not turning off : (

I just replaced the incandescent bulbs in my 838 with an LED kit that I acquired from affinity for artifacts on eBay. Two of the 10 LED’s (wired 4 mm bulbs) will not turn off when their associated switch is off, the AM and Phono-1.

To install the new bulbs I pulled the old ones out the front of the receiver and cut and soldered the new ones in. I used heat shrink to cover the solder where the wires are joined.

Personally, I don’t think this is an LED issue. With the receiver on and the stereo set to FM, I used a wired incandescent bulb and touched the leads to the corresponding posts for AM and Phono-1 and the incandescent bulb lit up. So regardless of LED or incandescent bulb, these lights are still receiving voltage when they should not.

I am about to dive in with further troubleshooting but I was wondering if this is a know issue. If so, can people with similar experiences share what their solution was?

I think you are right Brian. I just got done metering the voltage across the switches when they are off and on. All switches meter 6.7 VDC when on. When off, the four switches operating properly meter 0.05 VDC. The AM and Phono-1 switches meter 2.5 VDC when off : ( Thanks for the quick response.

I think why I never noticed this before is because with the incandescent bulbs, the votage was low enough to where they barely lit up. With LED's they require less voltage to turn on. Time to replace some switches : )
