Pioneer SX 950 volume

I have a SX-950 paired with Cerwin Vega speakers. It sounds great, but when I plugged in my Kenwood KR-7600, SX-950 seems way under powered. Power output should be about the same between the 2, however I can turn the volume up all the way on the SX-950 and it's loud, but on Kenwood I can't even go half way up before it becomes way too loud.

What gives? Does it need to be recapped?
