Pioneer SX-980

condition condition condition...
it could be...

then again - it couldn't be

but it has potential, certainly
for 300 I would expect it to be really shiny and fully functional, cleaned.
without looking, off the top of my head I think exceptional examples get up to 400..but it's been a while since I've owned one.

I would personally pass. A professionally serviced and inspected one goes for around 400 (including shipping ) on that auction site.

They can easily bring $300 in proper working condition these days. Don't forget that some members are biased by the prices they paid a few years ago. These things have been skyrocketing upward in value lately.

Yes...

With records coming back, many people are interested in putting systems together. A couple of years back, I bought a Marantz 2220b for $68 on eBay and that would be impossible now ! They all want vintage receivers, EQ's and speakers to go with their new turntables....

Your right.I gladly paid $200 for a SX980 about ten years ago which was my first real bigger vintage stereo.I had a Yamaha cr620 and a sx636 but they didn't make my speakers come to life like the 80 wpc Pioneer.

Listing removed/sold today. I will keep an eye out for a larger one. I have a SX750 with my Wharfedale W70E s. A SX-680 is driving my hybrid Infinity Qe s. Had not seen one of the bigger pioneer receivers locally. Most are picked off by a local reseller.
