Pioneer SX-990

Need help with the tuner meter lamp on my Pioneer SX-990. The lamp does not come on, the signal strength meter bulb which is located on the same mount works fine and the stereo indicator lamp works. I checked the bulb and it is good...all the local stations come in nice and clear . any ideas?

i did, it still does not work...I'm thinking it could be the cheap socket Pioneer used for these two bulbs..I checked the Indicator bd and the MPX bd. everything seemed fine.

Look for corrosion. Voltage comes from the same place.

I checked for corrosion and I see nothing...I don't see any ground problems and all connections seem to be good..

I have a DMM and test gear.

yes the tuning meter light, the signal strength meter light works

This shows two different value lamps.

The part numbers for the two lamps are different. It looks like you have a 50ma lamp and a 15ma lamp. 8V
I have a guy if you need lamps.

I'll check the lamps, am i correct the FM signal meter bulb is the 8v 0.15mA bulb?

thanks for the info, would you recommend LED ON THE UNIT? I realize the panel lights won't matter they are the original fuse type. but the screw base and bayonet bases are what I would be wondering about.

'm thinking the socket, its a screw base socket with the fiber on the base, they are bad about cracking and seperating from in side the socket.

in my 1500td i made a bracket to support two LOW PROFILE fuse holders to use regular fuse lamps. i fabbed it out of sheet brass and used fuse leds. a word of warning,if you use a high wattage incandescent you can melt the plastic of the meter housing. its been shown on this forum. the leds are MUCH better than mini candelabra's. and those stock lamp holders are fragile
