Let me start by saying I am not very savvy when it comes to audio. I just love my music in its purest form. I've got a Pioneer SX1280. The majority of my records are in stereo so obviously I want to play them on stereo function. I've noticed that when I do so I get awesome sound from my left speaker. But when I move it over to right speaker only, the sound is very minimal. Like a whisper. I don't believe it's a speaker issue or a wire issue because when I put the receiver in mono mode noth speakers output are equal. Just at a lower and less powerful volume then even the one speaker running in stereo mode. Would love some input as to what might be the issue. I could live with listening in stereo and basically only one speaker, but I'm not sure if that is too much on the one speaker. Please help!

Could be a rica cable or the polarity of the speaker wires. Could be a dirty switch or push button . Try switching L to R and R to L on the speaker wires. See if the low sound moves to the left speaker. Have you ever cleaned any of the switches with deoxit ?
 
A classic 1250/1280 problem is the filter switches getting dirty and corroded. With the unit powered off, take both the high and low level filter switches and cycle them maybe 50 times. Fire the receiver up and see if that helped. You can go a long time doing that, but eventually you should open up the unit and pull out the flat amp and clean the switches with Deoxit. After it dries, lube it with Caig Fader and the follow up after dry with Caig Gold or Shield for a sealant. Shield lasts longer and is for more severe environments like humid Florida.
