Pioneer SX6

I recently acquired a pioneer sx 6 receiver from a friend's dad who'd had it in storage since '89. It has a fairly loud hiss through both channels on all inputs. However, if you turn the treble down, the hiss goes down with it. Any ideas? Thank you for your time!

well, lets git in there and swap out the small signal stuff.. the champagne series stuff does not suck

The fact that the hiss goes down with the treble control indicates that it's a problem in the preamp section.

However, these receivers don't have much value unlike the traditional older silver Pioneers, and the front panel controls had a tendency to discolor. If yours is in perfect cosmetic condition, then it might be worth the effort and expense to repair. If it's not, look on eBay to find other SX-6's in similar condition to determine if it's worth your time.

I have one and sounds decent enough but they do not have much value compared to earlier silver ones.If your not a doityourselfer and you have your heart set on one it may be better just to buy an ebay example.
