Pioneer PL-530 vs PL-570 I have read the propaganda for both units , the PL-570 was more $$$ seems a bit bigger overall and has the motor for tone arm control . Is the PL-570 a way nicer TT? when comparing it to a PL-530 , like a apple vs a apple ? or more like Godzilla vs Bambi? .

According to vinylengine, the PL-570 is Quartz locked and has adjustable tonearm height, while the PL-530 has neither. Those are definitely convenient features.

In good nick, the PL-570 is probably the better turntable but it has a pretty significant flaw, if one can call it that. The arm automation is driven by a second electric motor called a "timing motor." Inside the motor is a stack of Delrin gears. One of them, a reduction gear, has a depressing habit of falling apart.

So far, nobody has come up with a suitable replacement gear. The only fix at this time is to locate a working timing motor and hope it lasts.

Still true, no replacement gear(QM) Also, how do you get into the gearbox(QM)!

If it’s the same guy, those motors/gears work perfectly!!! I took mine apart and re greased and then just re greased after two years of use…..actually, I bought two, need to find the other one, around here somewhere!!

Took me a while to find this!! Anyways, this is the second motor/gears I bought…..
