Pioneer Corp will release a new high-end speaker TAD Reference One (TAD-R1) in early April aimed at audiophiles and professional musicians. The TAD-R1 is a 3-way speaker system developed keeping in mind TAD's speaker design philosophy of accurate sound reproduction. The new speaker uses a vibration board made with a special material unique to Pioneer. Because the midrange speaker and tweeter are arranged coaxially, sound attenuates cleanly across the entire spectrum. The speaker can generate clear, precise sound over an extremely wide range of 8.5 octaves.

The new Pioneer TAD Reference One Speakers measures 554 mm (W) ×1293 mm (H) ×698 mm (D) and weighs 330 lbs (1Unit).The new speakers will be available for approximately $25,900.

Never mind on these/ I could buy a pair of 801's with 30,000 dollars!
 
Now if they had a spicket on the side and you could age your Jack Daniels in them, they'd definitely be worth it.
 
The whole whiskey barrel - mellow sound sounds like a lot of marketing BS to me. Now if you take a few shots of whiskey, any speaker might sound mellow.

They do look like nice speakers though!
 
Hi,

All ye need to mellow ye speakers is a wee dram of the hard stuff. The more wee drams ye drink, the mellower ye speakers sound. Just don't drink too much or drive.
 
Maybe they sound good with the aged oak, but I agree, the more wee drams ye drink, the more mellow ye speakers.

i may be new to hi-fi audio, but have been a musician for a long time and can atest to the differences in woods. solid oak is going to give a more mellow sound than mdf or even other solid woods like rosewood, regardless of being soaked in whiskey. age, however, is very important to the mellowing of tone. which essentially break in the fibers of the wood. it softens it up so to speak. just as acoustic guitars sound harsh as new. 30 years down the line the sound mellow deep and rich. such as the reason proffesional string players intruments frequently are over 100 years old.
